Took Pat to his primary physician at Fort Dix yesterday. (To be treated--and get medication at a discount--by the V.A., you have to be seen there every six months.) Dr. S. doesn't really do much, as Pat has specialists for practically every medical condition--covered under AARP, which we pick up for a few thou a year.
After lunch, Pat went off to the bay and I did a few chores, then stopped at Tucker Tom's, a local produce place, to get Brussel sprouts. Interestingly, there's a sign on one side of their small building that identifies it that way; on the other side, a different sign says "B & B Produce." Yes, it's the same place--dunno why the two names.
Other than that, nothing much went on. Baked more of the flounder from Dennis for dinner and, even after being frozen, it was delish.
Tomorrow, Weight Watchers. This could be the week I gain because, as recorded, I ate several meals out, including two dinners. I didn't wildly overeat--and I skipped bread, butter, and desserts--but I did eat more than I normally do. I've gotten right back on track, though, so if I gain a bit, I know that's just a bump in my "get to goal" path.

You'll probably do OK at WW. This past week is a bit how it'll be once you are on 'maintenance' if they still use that term. Learning how much you can add to your program before gaining. For me the losing part wasn't all that difficult....it was being very careful once I stopped losing....of course I didn't do well either. I believe you will because you are highly motivated after seeing your arteries. You and my Rich have a huge advantage in that you both LOVE veggies. I probably could live without them unless they were smothered in butter or cheese. He uses vinegar and I'm starting to lean toward it as well. I do sautee my spinach in a small amt of olive oil tho.
Rosemary, I've been meaning to ask .....would you consider being a WW instructor? You'd be so good..your animated, have lots of knowledge regarding good eating habits, understand the difficulty folks face and you are a good listener. What do you think?

I've thought about the possibility of being an instructor (or "leader," which is what WW calls them). The problem is, I really don't want to make a commitment to be there consistantly. Also, the leaders are really sales reps working on commission. What they get paid rests on the number of people who sign up for their meetings, PLUS I know they get a cut when "their" people buy WW products. I just love our leader, Cris (she doesn't use the "H"), but am turned off when she incorporates pushing the products into her spiel. Cris leads several different groups on different days of the week and different times--I know she can make a fair amount that way and it allows her to be home with her two kids. Presumably, her husband carries the health insurance.
Yes, sure, I love to address groups and talk--that part would be a piece of cake. Otherwise, I wouldn't be interested.

Rosemary,
I understand about not wanting to make a committment. Even as a volunteer I find that to be a negative.
I had no idea the 'leaders' worked on commission. I think I last went to ww in 1994 in FL. I don't think I ever heard about a commission back then. Do you know if that was always the case?

To my knowledge, they've always been paid this way. It makes sense, as the more people they can attract, the more WW makes, too.
Yes, dearie, the world revolves around dat ole debbil, money...

SUNDAY

Had a good sleep at Ellen's and once we both got up, she made scrambled eggs for breakfast. We then fussed around with my laptop and did...
