Mishmash

I got some things done that would bore the hell out of anyone else, but pleases me no end. For one, I finally, at long last, got an over-the-door wreath hanger. It's amazing what time and effort it took to track one down, and darned it they didn't have them practically across the street at Michael's in the Barnes & Noble Shopping Center. Plus, after all these months, I discovered which switch on the bedroom wall operates the bedside lamp. Believe it or not, I was very pleased over that.
Went to CVS for the vitamin D capsules and talked to the pharmacist about why mine is low. Also, Quest Diagnostics had sent the address of its web site and I found that a vitamin D deficiency can be related to age and also osteoporosis. Well, I'll take them and see what happens.
Rearranged some of my closet. Now I have my holiday decorations on the top shelf, one small box for each holiday. What a difference from what I used to keep in the garage: shelf after shelf and so many large container filled with Christmas, Easter, Halloween, Thanksgiving decorations, not to mention spring, fall, and winter items that, yes, for years, I got out and put away every year. It used to take me hours, if not days, to decorate for Christmas; now I have one small container of about four items and glory be--I'm glad! I don't want to be bogged down in that kind of activity any more.

Rosemary...find out what your Vit D level is.....usually the normal range is 32-100...but it should be above 40.
I have been taking 7000 u of Vit D almost daily for several years...I've read lots of research and I follow this source for my info....www.vitamindcouncil.org

I don't think 1000 units is enough. But I'm not your doctor. Make sure you take VitD3......and get retested in 6 months or so.
I happy your MD at least checked your Vit D level.

Pat, thanks so much for this input. I'll definitely check the web site you mentioned and look into it further. Also, hope you don't mind if I scan the report and send to you as an e-mail attachment. I can't figure out what my level is!

Rosemary, I got the reports and gave you my interpretation via email. . Normal level is above 30. You are deficient with a level of 20.
Take the supplement -- get retested -- you'll more than likely need much more than 1000 IU Vit D 3/ day. She's starting low which is fine, but make sure you get retested. Medicare will probably cover it. I never mind questions if I can help, friend.

BTW, LOW VIT D MAY NOT BE LIFE THREATENING, BUT IT SURE IMPACTS QUALITY OF LIFE. IMPORTANT TO STAVE OFF OSTEOPOROSIS. SORRY ABOUT THE CAPS.

Pat, you know, the vitamins are inexpensive enough, I doubt if I'll try to get Medicare to cover; I'll just take them off my income tax. Thanks again, my friend!

Rosemary,
I should have clarified it's the Vit D test Medicare might cover since your level is so low.

Wednesday

It was quite an enjoyable day after all the must-do-this, can't-find-that of the last few.  Changed the bed, washed the sheets, and jump...
