FRIDAY

Disaster on the weight front! Having gained a pound at home (to 129.4), I was teetering on the edge of my comfort zone. At T.O.P.S., I actually fell over: gained 1.5, which took me to 130.2--AAGH! 😨Okay, I'll do better.

The meeting was, as usual, meandering. I brought my new Norman Solomon book, War Made Invisible: How America Hides The Human Toll Of Its Military Machine, mainly to show Mary Ann and Cheryl. Both are pacifists and so are their husbands. Leader Lennie announced that she won't be attending for the next four weeks, as she's going to visit her sister in North Dakota, then taking some grandchildren to Greece. Hey, that means we'll have quicky meeting and who knows how many will be there.

Home after ten and I put in a wash, including the bath mat, so didn't get breakfast until 11:00. That was okay because I wanted to go into town with lunch later, plus get plant milk at Von's. As I was on my way, Lorraine called. She asked me to pick her up some ice cream sandwiches, which I did. When I came back, she met me in the middle and we chatted for a bit. I feel sorry for her--she and "Junior," her husband, seem to have a pretty remote relationship--he travels a lot, for one thing. Anyway, I asked her to let me know when I can take her for a farewell lunch.

After that, I went home to make lunch, packed up, and bused to town. I ate at my usual place across from the mission, then stopped in a few shops. Bought some cloth wine carriers for gifts: one says "Liquid Therapy," the other "Great Minds Drink Alike." Cute, and I'll probably give Diane a bottle for her birthday.

Speaking of...Diane texted me while I was on the bus, asking what day I'm available for lunch. Hmm...I've got Susan and Vickie for Happy Hour on Sunday, Soaring Sprits dinner on Monday, a  dermatology appointment on Wednesday, and T.O.P.S. on Friday (although I guess we could go after) . Hope she can do Thursday or we'll have to try for the weekend.

Home about 6:00; before dinner, I came across the picture below in "Photos." It's a reunion of my  HSHS class of 1954; I don't even remember what reunion year it was--could it be the fiftieth, so 2004? I'm standing in the middle, between two classmates in white, and Jeanne Dollard Painter is seated second from left. I messaged the pic to Jeanne to ask who all was still around, but she said I probably knew that better than she did. Asked me to call her and we'll talk about it--I will today.

Other than you and Jeanne Dollard I don’t recognize anyone. Can you label them for me? Thank you. PMR/HSHS’57

Pat, believe it or not, I remember only about half of them. I've just been looking for my yearbook, but darn, I can't find it. I'll tell who I know and will fill in when I find it. In the front row from left is somebody whose name I don't remember, but he had diabetes and it blinded him; a short time later, he died. Next to him are Jeanne, of course, Janie Moylan, and Betty Mae Downes; the guy next to her I don't remember. In the second row from left: the first three I don't remember, then me, Joanne Eisle (spelling?) and the obnoxious Sallye Lange. Third row, Teresa Sacco, who married John Garrity--both gone now. Next two, I don't know--some you can't see their faces--and on the end is Pat Mooney. The man in the back I know well, but I just can't remember his name. Now I'm DETERMINED to find my yearbook and try to piece out some of the rest of them. Will keep you posted via this blog.

FRIDAY--I'M IN AND SO IS THE GESTOPO

Hey, I gotta say, it wasn't a bad day. Home, I had lost 1.2  (to 129.4) and at T.O.P.S., I was down 1.1 to 130.2. Incredibly, I was the ...
