THURSDAY--GOOD NEWS AND BAD NEWS

THE GOOD:  Gwennie is back! After ten days on the loose, she showed up Wednesday night, back on Ellen's porch! Here she is a short time ago, balancing on El's exercise bike:

We'll so relieved, as El is moving to her new place in two weeks and it would have been hard to leave, knowing Gwennie was gone--whew!

THE BAD: I'm afraid Diane and I will no longer be meeting for lib lunch--or for anything else.  We went back and forth on our differences about 1.) the homeless and 2.) war. She then suggested we just "dialogue"--she meant corresponding via email, but I'm not agreeable to that, so suggested we call it a day, i.e., end our friendship. This may illustrates better than I can say it:

I'm now having second thoughts and am thinking about asking what she means by "dialogue." If she wants to discuss weighty topics such as those mentioned, then no, I'm not interested. If she simply wants to periodically catch each up on our activities and doings, then yes, I'd like that. i may suggest it--still on the fence about it.

More bad news: As I've been doing for a year a longer, I turned to "Connections" after I finished "Wordle." I pressed "play" and was greeted with an "oops" sign and the information that I'd have to try again to get into it. I have no idea what the problem is, but I've tried several times and no luck. Geez, it's one thing after another...

Aside from all that, Suzanne asked if I wanted to go to WinCo at 9:30 and sure I did. I got chicken thighs, carrots, frozen mixed veggies, and several other things. Suzanne buys for two weeks and boy, she got a car full. She drinks bottled water and had three very large containers of it, as well.

Lorraine called and asked to meet me in the middle to say goodbye, as she moves to Santa Clarita (about a two-hour drive away) today. I agreed, took my lunch, she came, and we sat for close to two hours, chatting. Lorraine can be a bit wearing, but I'm sorry she's leaving. We've haven't been what you would call close friends, but I liked--on occasion--to be with her. She said she'd call me and I said I'd have her over for lunch when we're both available. Here's Lorraine:
Lorraine is nine years younger than I am, but I'm not sure if that's noticeable. Before she left, we walked to her car and she gave me--as a going-away gift--a pretty footed cake plate. Boy, I feel bad that I didn't think to get her anything as a going-away gift.

Got a text from Katherine, who said she'll wait until next week to join our T.O.P.S. group. It seems she'll be attending her grandchild's graduation ceremony today. High school? College? No, Kindergarten. 😄

I was at loose ends when I got home, took an hour's nap. T.O.P.S. today and I'm not feeling very hopeful re weight, but we'll see.

Note to self re Cricket: I've contacted both Cricket and BOA about auto-pay, but neither seem to be able to solve the problems, so drop auto-pay. Will get a text about payment monthly and just do it from there.

What a good feeling when Gwennie came home. She knew where life was better for her. In time I bet you and Diane will agree to meet for your lib lunch.

Yes, it was great about Gwennie. As for Diane and me, maybe, but I'm still on the fence about whether I want to initiate contact. I'm angry and hurt and I guess she is, too. Think I'll cool it for a bit and maybe it will work out later.

FRIDAY--I'M IN AND SO IS THE GESTOPO

Hey, I gotta say, it wasn't a bad day. Home, I had lost 1.2  (to 129.4) and at T.O.P.S., I was down 1.1 to 130.2. Incredibly, I was the ...
