After walk, exercise, and breakfast, I went over lines, then drove to the cemetery. Hadn't been there for weeks as I no longer seem to have the need. Stopped at the sixty-nine cent store (I ain't goin' to no stinkin' dollar stores) and got napkins and a few other things. Went to Produce Junction for lettuce, cabbage, tomatoes, peppers, and spaghetti squash, then to Canal's for Chardonnay.
Home, I cut up onions and peppers, stir-fried with chicken, and enjoyed the dish for dinner. Called Leslie and chatted. Called Ellen V. and talked about the play. She's got some "issues," as the odious cliche goes, and aired her gripes about Desi, Mary, and dialog. I packed up my nineteenth century sampler, as I said it cold be used to dress he set. It's in the original frame and very heavy; hope it doesn't get dropped. Other than the above, it was mostly going over lines.
Rehearsal today at 10:00 am.

What with one thing and another, it was a kind of frustrating day. Drove over to Hamilton Mall to get the multitude of presents and cards I need before I leave for Florida. Occasions include P. and N.'s birthdays (Tokyo) on June 28 and 20 respectively, V. and V.'s birthdays (Singapore) on July 10 and 29, J.'s on June 28 (Wellsboro), and T.'s on August 2. I also wanted to get three Father's Day cards for son, grandson, and son-in-law. Got most of the presents and all but one card, but started to feel harassed and irritated, which happens if I delay lunch, which I did. Stopped at Santori's to get lunch meat, feta, and veggies, as I was expecting Pat L. and Betty for lunch today, but Betty had to bow out, as she has a meeting for work.
Must stop at the Seaport today to discuss the murder mystery thing. I'm going to tell her I need more time to see if I can line people up to work on it (and be in it); otherwise I'm not going to take it on.
Talked to Barbara H.--we're going on a van tour tomorrow--and arranged to pick her and her sister up, then stop for a friend in Manahawkin. Finished up an article for the July issue of The Breeze, the only one I contributed for that issue. It's one of my "Notes From A Vanished World" series and is called "Pets Of The Past, Part I." It's pretty good, I think, and very short.
A high point: Dave S., with whom I performed in Our Town, has agreed to sub for George in the July 9 If Guys Were Gals. He'll come over to rehearse next week, along with Frank. Whew! We're getting down to the wire here, so I'm relieved that Dave accepted.

Trekked up to Manahawkin twice yesterday. Before Pat got up, I went to Staples to get black printer ink, then to TJ Max and found a skirt to wear as Ivana. Got home, opened the printer, and found the cartilage was the wrong size. Skirt also was a bit tight. Wanted until after Pat got up and I got him fed, dressed, and in his chair, and went back. Exchanged the ink, got a bigger size skirt, and found a blouse that goes with it.
Enjoyed an electronic "visit" from the Singapore crowd, Vivian showing me lots of her drawings and paintings. Saw Mike briefly--he had to go out--and Paula with precious little Violet. It's hard to believe she'll be a year old in six weeks or so.
Must go to the library and remove my Dionne Quintuplet display. Right after we walk this morning, though, I want to go to Weight Watchers, as it's been a while. I think I've gained a bit, but we'll see.
Later: Back from WW. I'm down .8 for a weight of 130.6 and a total of 69.0 lost. I'm okay with that, although I'd still like to nudge the loss down a bit to a round 170 off.
Later Still: Ho, ho, did I write "a hundred and SEVENTY" off? Of course, I meant 70. Am glad I didn't gain and in fact, am down almost a pound.

It took an age to get to Mainland Heart Consultants yesterday, since everybody in twelve states was determined to take the parkway to the shore.
Nothing new or notable going on with Pat's heart. He saw the nurse practitioner, a tiny tot of twenty-something, who innocently noted he was due for a stress test. A stress test? We looked at her, me (I could feel it)with my eyebrow raised. She assured us it would be just a chemical test--"You wouldn't have to walk the treadmill." Finally, she noted that maybe with his respiratory condition, it wasn't the best idea since multi-grain bread. Even I, medical moron that I am, thought this was a fine example of either ignorance or failure to read a folder. Of course, she also asked brightly--they all do, or a variation thereof--"Are you still short of breath?" She's looking at a man attached to an oxygen tank, gasping for air after walking ten feet!
Yes, yes, it's her job and she meant well. I don't give a damn: a pox on all their houses.
Made the lemon squares for tonight's dinner on Long Beach Island and, if I say it myself, they look superb. They're a little sticky, so I'll put them in the refrig until I go to meet Alison and Mike in Manahawkin.
On the social scene, Barb D. called to invite us to a dominoes party on Sunday (tomorrow)--hurray! Our group used to meet every six weeks or so for dominoes, but we haven't for about a year. Long story I won't go into, but suffice it to say, there was a (silent) falling out with two of the couples (not us). Anyway, I'm so pleased and what's best, Pat will be able to go, too, as it's right next door.
Colored my hair last night and I decided it was the last time I'd do it myself. Somehow, as I was pouring it on--my head--the top came off the container and I got dye all over the place. Thought I had gotten it all up, but later saw there's a big blotch on the curtain. Yeah, I'll bite the bullet and have it done at the hairdresser's from now on, more expensive though it is.

After my frantic and furious messages to RealArcade were finally noticed, "Wordslinger" mysteriously appeared and I enjoyed it for hours yesterday. That was after I hauled the projector to the clubhouse and set it up. I'm okay with remembering how to connect the wires and so on, but hope I can somehow have the larger apparatus to one side so I'm not in the way of the audience. Our association prez Howard R. came down and unlocked the office so I could put the equipment in there. I wish he'd just give me the key so I can go over today when I feel like it. I hope everybody remembers about daylight savings time today--otherwise, I'm going to have a lot of people coming in at the end.
Brother Larry called and said our older brother, Jim, came down to Florida and they had a good time together, going out on the boat and everything. (I think it's Larry's son-in-law's boat. First time Jim had been in Florida in 30 years.
Alison called yesterday. She and Mike ran in a 10-mile race in Atlantic City and Mike came in second in his age category! She wasn't sure what place she came in, but wasn't concerned about it. The Boston is coming up soon--next month--and boy, they run every chance they get to prepare for it.
Didn't talk to Betty yesterday, but will call her today. Okay, I think I've done all I can do for the Dionne Quintuplet presentation and it'll go well or not. I'm willing to bet the world will go on turning one way or the other.
