WEDNESDAY

Stripped the bed, took sheets to the laundry, and re-made with others. By the time I had them in the dryer, it was lunchtime, so I went down to eat with Kathie, Keith, and LaVerne. Went back and forth to the laundry room to retrieve the sheets, put in a load of clothes, and slice up some lemons.

At 2:00, I went down to dime Bingo/Happy Hour. I actually--finally--won two games, playing my usual four cards. Good, that means I have a new supply of dimes. Stayed for Trivia, then went up to get the second load of wash.

Dinner with Kathie, Keith, and Pat; the latter blessed himself and said grace before the meal. I skipped the ham and beans stew in favor of a hot dog; didn't feel like eating that much.

Signed up to attend the Sabbat dinner tomorrow. I may be the only non-Jewish person there, but I don't care. I'm interested in other cultures and some of the friends I've made here are Jewish.

Showered and washed my hair before watching my hour of T.V.

💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕

Here's a picture of Vivian's graduation with both parents, which Paula put on Facebook. I was glad to see it because no matter what went before--divorce and bitter feelings, I'm afraid--they are still the father and mother of a lovely young woman:

TUESDAY

Skipped breakfast and at 10:00, had Rick take me in The Orchard van to CVS to pick up my medication. The Eliquis cost me $126.00. All my other meds are covered by insurance; don't know why this one isn't, but it was for a three-month supply, so a little more then five hundred a year, which is doable,

I had intended to get a pedicure via Nails D'Elegance, but when I went in, they were short-handed and said I had to come back later. I decided to skip it and will look into having Elika do it here. Called to have Rick pick me back up, which he did.

My old pal, Doris, called and we had a good talk. I hadn't heard from her for some time, so it was fun.

Kathie callled to say she was going to Wal-Mart, then lunch with her daughter. I didn't see Keith in the dining room, so sat with Trudie, Carl, Carol, and Stan. Had the Asian salad, which was pretty good.

Dime Bingo at 2:00 and wonder of wonders, I finally won a game. Unfortunately, there were only twelve people there, so I didn't get a big payoff, but so what--it was enough to keep me in the game. Also, we're doing dime Bingo again this afternoon, combined with Happy Hour--YAY!

Activities Director Mindy mentioned she was planning a Columbia-themed day and I told her Ellen had been there a few months ago and did she want pictures? Yes, indeed, she did, and was delighted after I forwarded Ellen's to her.

Ate with Kathie, Keith, and LaVerne; this time, Pat (a man) joined us. I had met him and seen him around and he seems a nice guy.

Slept well and just changed the bed before sitting down to top off this entry.

MONDAY

Again skipped breakfast, which seems to be working for me--anyway, I get hungry for lunch and enjoy it more. Fooled around on the laptop, then went down to Jackie's balance class. She knew Bob and when I mentioned I had taken pictures of his 100th birthday party the other day, she asked me to send them to her, which I did.

While downstairs, I requested the van for today, Tuesday, at 10:00. I want to go to Von's, CVS, and Nails L'Elegance, all in the same shopping center, across from where I used to live. Maybe I'll see if Vickie or Noreen might want to meet me for lunch there.

I really just lazed around after the balance class until Susan picked me up at 5:15. We met Lendal and Glenna there and had an enjoyable time chatting. I had the cauliflower appetizer, as I was still full from lunch. Home at 7:45 and that was it for the day.

SUNDAY

Slept unti 8:00 and didn't go down for breakfast. Later, I went down and got a banana, which they usually have for the taking and had that.

Mike Messaged me and we talked about Vivian's graduation; he'll be in Hawaii another four days. He said he'll send pictures of ex Paula and him with Vivian--good.

Lunch with Kathie, Keith, LaVerne and a newcomer: Kathie's friend, Agatha, newly arrived from Australia:

She and Kathie reminisced:

And here she is with the three of us (Keith came later):

It was kind of a game day later: played Bingo (not dime) at 2:00, then ran into Keith and Elaine, who were off to play Yatzee together. I joined them and actually won the first game.

Dinner with Kathie and Keith, then Elaine sat down with us. She's a pretty interesting person: five children, grandchildren, and nineteen great-grands, but I'm pretty sure she's younger than I am. She's very out-going, is an "ambassador" for The Orchard (unpaid assistant, I calls it), and I'd like to get to know her better. Enjoyed my now-only-weekly IPA with dinner, later had a bit of cream sherry, and slept well. Just got up at 6:15.
🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂

Incredible: Yesterday was Jeanne Dollard Painter's ninetieth birthday. Even more incredible: My twin sister's ninetieth is in December, so that makes me on the cusp--AAGH!

SATURDAY

I did little yesterday except watch granddaughter Vivian's graduation ceremony at University of Hawaii. That was three hours long and, as all these affairs are, was tedious. But I heard her name announced and saw her receive her diploma, so that was good. Her Dad sent some pictures, too:

He also sent a video of her actually receiving the diploma, but I haven't been able to copy that. It's a huge school and the stadium was packed with thousands of people--graduates, faculty, guests, and so on. It's just as well I didn't go after all--my children were not in favor and they were right.

Since I was watching the ceremony, I didn't go down for lunch, but just microwaved a pizza I had in the freezer. I was able to go to dime Bingo, but again, didn't win a single game--my luck has been going sour! However, it was fun and I stayed after for Trivia.

Had dinner with Kathie, Keith, and LaVerne and I took the baby parade trophy down to show them; They were charmed.

I had put the picture below  on Facebook, noting that in a little more than seven months, I'll "join" Aunt Maggie in being ninety--AAGH! This was at the party we had for her at Betty's big house on Atlantic Avenue. My three younger children are on the right and Betty's Carolyn is the little blonde next to the birthday girl:

FRIDAY

Weight report: I was down 2.2 at home to 137.4; at T..O.P.S., I was down 2.3 to 138.3. Those numbers are gratifying, but still not within my desired weight zone of 125 to 130.

Got home in time to join the balance class with Jackie, then lunched with Kathie, Keith, and LaVerne. After, I just fooled around on the laptop until it was time for  Bob's big hundreth birthday party at 3:00. It was in the multi-purpose room, which barely held the crowd. Besides residents, a number of Bob's relatives were there, including young children. There was a quartet who sang, a lemon meringue pie for Bob, and lasagne and cupcakes for the rest of us. And Bob danced with several women! Here are some pics from the party:

At the end of the table: Carl wore a party hat over his baseball cap.

Kathie called to say she wasn't coming to dinner, as the med she takes for her migraine leaves her with no appetite. She can stand to lose a good fifty pounds, so that's actually not a bad thing. Ate with Keith and LaVerne and just had a half portion of chicken and sides.

Showered before bed and turned in about 9:30. Was wakeful and got up to play Jewel Match Royale, but then slept until 8:00, so that's okay. Skipped breakfast, which suits me okay.

THURSDAY WITH BETTY AND CAROLYN

And a good day with my dear niece and twin sister:  I skipped breakfast, instead sleeping until 8:30.  Just cleaned up a bit, and worked on the laptop until Carolyn at 10:30. After visiting for a bit, we left for Santa Barbara. Carolyn had an appointment, fo w went first to house, where I stayed with Calvin, Tony, and Drizzle* until she returned. In the meantime, I managed take a nap on the couch, which was refreshing. Before we left to see Betty, Carolyn gave me this precious Mothers Day gift:

It's the trophy Betty and I won in the Ventnor Baby Parade of 1937.

For lunch, we went to Cody's Cafe, where I had a good salad. Then it was off to Villa Alamar to see Betty. She was, as I had seen before, confused and unable to clearly communicate, but she is not unhappy and that's what we must remember. Carolyn has had a mural painted on Betty's wall and it's so serene:

Here are the twinnies and their 88-year-old trophy;

We stayed about 45 minutes, then she drove me home.

Had dinner with Kathie and Keith and when I got home about 6:30, I was tired and actually fell on my bed and slept for two hours. Got up, watched T.V. for two hour, then slept through the night. I'm not sure why I felt so exhausted, but I suspect, emotional stress.

T.O.P.S. this morning and I don't feel like going, but I will.

WEDNESDAY

I've decided to start anew, turn over a new leaf, and reform my life for the better--or something. As noted before, I skipped breakfast and went back to sleep after a wakeful night. Dressed and did some chores until Ellen picked me up at noon and off we went.

First we went to Lowe's where El got a number of items for her house--curtain rods and so on. She just bought a new T.V., too, and Greg will help her set that up. I looked for a kitchen towel rack, but didn't see anything I wanted, so will look again on-line.

After, we went to Wood Ranch for lunch. We both had big salads--El barbeque, I Asian--which were, as always excellent. I asked El to stop at the bank so I could get dimes for Bingo and she did. She dropped me off after a fun day and I went immediately to the multi-purpose room for dime Bingo. Didn't win a one.

Dinner with Keith, Kathy, and LaVerne. It was pizza and pretty good. I told them I may or may not be going down to breakfast and certainly won't be here for lunch today, as Carolyn is picking me up and we're going to go to Santa Barbara to see Betty, a melanchony prospect.

I had again been restless overnight, and just got up at eight something. Skipped breakfast, as Carolyn said we'll have lunch before Villa Alamar and Betty. I'll ask C. to stop at CVS first so I can pick up my medication.

TUESDAY

As soon as I dressed, I stripped the bed and took the sheets to the laundry. After I put them in the dryer, I did a load of regular clothes. Had the usual breakfast with Keith and a nap after. I can't even remember what I did until lunchtime, but when I went down, I didn't see Keith and Kathie had called to say she wouldn't be here for lunch. Sat with Trudie and Carol, Ruth and Stan.

At 2:00, I went down to play dime Bingo; had my usual four cards, but again, didn't win a single game. Back in the apartment, I finally looked at papers to be filed--AAGH! There was such a stack of them, from receipts for co-pays and so on, to T.O.P.S. lists, to miscellaneous scraps--it was a daunting task. However, I got it done, although there are still a few things I have to go through.

Kathie didn't show for dinner, either, so Keith and I were on our own. We had some interesting discussions about murder, capital punishment, and the Readers' Digest. Back upstairs just after 6:00.

Mike, now in Hawaii for Vivian's graduation ceremony, Messaged me this picture:

How I wish I could be there.

I had a terrible sleepimg again--was up periodically all night. My alarm rings at 6:30, but I'm almost never still asleep by that time. I was this morning and I promptly decided to skip breakfast and go back to sleep--which I did until 8:30. Now I feel good and may decide to make that my routine--dunno at this point.

MONDAY

After breakfast, I took my hour nap, then went downstairs to the Balance Class with Jackie. It was good to be there, except that I get annoyed with Jackie, She spends the first ten minutes or so (it seems like ten hours) talking about her daughter and others in her family. Geez, she's as bad as some of our residents.

After that, I went up to do various small chores in the apartment, then virtuously spent five minutes on the cardio bike. Lunch with Kathie, Keith, and La Verne, after which there was a fire drill and we assembled outside. Those who were unable to use the stairs, though, had been told to stay in place, which some did. Chef Michael was kind enough to carry my walker down and up the stairs; I can descend and ascend myself, so no prob.

I fooled around with this and that until 4:00, when our Second Players Zoom meeting was held. It lasted an hour and we discussed a lot about the tribute to Carol show we're doing on June 28. Went down to dinner after with Keith and LaVerne; Kathie was nowhere to be found, which surprised me. The dinner entree was a turkey wrap and potato salad, both of which were very good. Of course, I had my reglar iced tea with it.

Ellen called and we made plans for tomorrow when we'll have an outing. We'll probably go to Lowe's and get me a kitchen towel holder, then lunch out.

Monday, May 11, 2026

SUNDAY: MOTHERS DAY...

...and it was a fun one. I went to the special brunch at 10:00 and had eggs Benedict, which were excellent. Sat with Lisa and David, as neither Keith nor Kathie were there. Ellen and Greg came at 11:30, Ellen bringing me a beautiful bouquet of roses and Greg, Diane Keaton's autobiography:

After hanging out for a bit, we went to town for lunch at Lure Fish House. It was jammed, but we had only fifteen minutes to wait, then were seated. I was so full from brunch that I ordered only raw oysters and a cup of clam chowder. Of course, I had a frosty IPA with the meal.

After lunch, we strolled around town and stopped in a few shops before heading home. I had received phone calls and Mothers Day wishes from my other childen, along with a fun gift: a gift card for a wash, cut, and blow dry right here at the salon--tip included. My niece, Joan, called from Brooklyn with holiday wishes and it was fun to talk to her.

We got back to my place about 4:00 and Ellen and I proceeded to deal the cards for gin rummy while Greg napped on the sofa.  Ellen beat me miserably, but that's nothing new. While we were engaged in our battle, Mike called from Singapore and we enjoyed talking to him. Saw Violet for just a few minutes to say hello, as she was about to leave to take year-end exams.

El and Greg left about 5:00 and I went downstairs to join Keith, Kathie, and LaVerne for dinner. It was fried shrimp along with sides and, being stuffed from lunch, opted for the shrimp only, which was pretty good.

Another poor sleeping night. I'm going to have to concentrate on increasing my exercise from here on in.

SATURDAY

...and an adventurous day: After breakfast with Keith, I napped, then about 10:30, took my courage in my hands, geared up my walker, and boarded the 10 bus to the transit center!  I've been apprehensive about it, since I had never ridden the bus with the walker, I had always usedmy cart. This went completely smoothly, though: The driver lowered the ramp, I strolled on, and off we went.

I bought a jacket and a set of sheets, along with some small pans at the Bargain Box, then ate the other half of my wrap and drank my water at the center of the mall. Went back to the bus depot, got the 10 back, and was home in time for dime Bingo. I didn't win, but stayed for Trivia, then had dinner with Kathie, Keith, and Diane.

Home, I set up my meds for the week; I was dismayed to find I was out of the one for my BP; texted Express Scripts to be sent more. Showered and washed my hair, then played games on the laptop, watched t.v. for a bit, and turned in.

It's Mothers Day, Ellen and Greg are coming at 11:30 and we're going to Lure for late lunch or early dinner--YAY!

Saturday, May 09, 2026

FRIDAY

Breakfast with Keith, but I had just a few bites of my scrambled eggs and toast before I excused myself and went up for my nap. I slept for two hours and felt a hundred percent better when I got up. Ellen called to say a crown she had had put in recently had slipped out, so she had to go to the dentist before she picked me up. She did, had it fixed, and still got here in time to be at Carillo Cardiology at noon.

The nurse did an EKG and it seemed okay. Other than that, there was good news and bad news. The good: I do have AFib and a murmer, but they seem stable. The bad: Alcohol, it seems, is not good news. I asked, "Well, nothing wrong with just one IPA a day, right?" "Wrong. drink no more than one a week." Darn. But I'm going to adhere to that. Ellen and Greg are taking me to Lure for breakfast and I'll have one there, then no more until Sunday next.

Besides a sweet Mothers Day card, Ellen brought me this tomato plant:

It's just what I wanted and I can't wait to sink my teeth into the lush red fruit.

El and I went to the Hill Street Cafe, where I had a turkey and veggie wrap and to drink, a diet coke. Back at my place, we chatted a bit, then El left and I went downstairs to have dinner with Keith, Kathie, and LaVerne.

Happily, although I was wakeful for a time, I slept okay last night and just got up at 6:10; I hope this lasts.Tomorrow is Mothers Day and I'm looking forward to lunch--dinner?--with El and Greg at Lure.

THURSDAY

After breakfast with Keith and Ray, I took a nap, then cleared up some things in the apartment.  Had lunch with Kathie and Keith, then resumed my chores.

I got a lovely Mothers Day gift from son Mike: a vining plant I can't wait to have climbing over my porch railing:

Lunch with Keith and Kathie, then I finally tackled a lot of the items I had put off. Collected a lot of things to discard and put them in the laundry room to be trashed. Wrapped my Japanese grandson's graduation present--long overdue--then went down to dinner.

Ate with Keith, Kathie, and LaVerne and dinner was pretty good--French dip and veggies. Unfortunately, I had a terrible time sleeping--I'll certainly take a nap after breakfast before Ellen picks me up at 11:30 for the cardiology visit. I'm not looking forward to it, that's a cinch.

Thursday, May 07, 2026

WEDNESDAY

Breakfast with Keith, plus Allan and Beverly.. After, I took an hour's nap, then packed up my laptop, keyboard, and mouse, and went downstairs to have Rick take me in the van to Ubreakwefix. The guy there told me the "adjuster" inthe keyboard was missing and needed to be replaced. I thought I may have one, but didn't find it when I got home. Not sure, but I may want to buy a new keyboard.

Lunch with Keith and Kathie, then I went to dime Bingo and stayed after for trivia. By that time, it was almost the dinner hour, so I went up to get my IPA. Keith and Kathie's table was occupied by Dyan and sonebody else I don't remember, so I sat with Trudy and her group. I enjoy their conversation, info about their backgrounds and so on, so that was fine.

I got a sweet card from Ellen (I'll see on Mother's Day) and a beautiful vining plant from Mike. Took a shower, still happy with my shower mat, then watched t.v. and turned in.

Slept badly, I'm afraid, but will try to avoid a nap.

TUESDAY

Keith and I were surprised and pleased when Kathie, making good on her promise, joined us for breakfast. After, I took a quick nap, thten boarded the Access to Ojai. Got to Ellen's about 11:30 and we left shortly after to walk tfo the clubhouse. The Cinco de Mayo celebration was in full swing and there was a good spread catered by Famous, a local outfit. I was pleased to be introduced to a number of Ellen's new friends and had a good time chatting with them.

El and I had planned to go out to look for a pan or pot for me, so I could utilize my new burner, but I was so tired, I suggested we skip that and visit for a bit. El was fine with that, and poured us both a Margarita, and we talked away. After a bit, she got the Blokus game and cards out and we played Blokus and gin  rummy.

After a fun day, I got the Access Van back and stopped in the dining room. Dinner was just about over, but I stopped to say hello to Keith, then took my Asian salad up to my apartment. Ate it with my daily IPA after I took a load of whites to the laundry room.  Finished dealing with it by 8:00, watched the rest of a Grace Kelly documentary, then fell into bed, and--YAY!--slept the sleep of the just.

MONDAY

Finally, I seem to have gotten some control over the laptop. However, it's now 1:37 am on Tuesday morning: I woke up an hour ago and can't seem to get back.

As for yesterday, I had breakfast with Keith and Ray, then napped, and Susan picked me up at 11:15 for Soaring Spririts lunch at the Stone Fire Grille. Gayle, Renees, Glenda, and Grendall came and we had a good time. We were delighted to be told that Vera will be here on April 24, coming in from Oregon.    Susan is a dog lover; her license:

And here she is in her doggy sweat shirt:

It's hard to believe she's 66 years old.

Dinner with Keith, Kathie, and LaVerne. Called the Access Van to take me to and from Ellen's today. I'm looking forward to it, but wish I had been able to get more sleep. Also requested The Ochard van for tomorrow and will have Rick drive met to Asuion to get this damn laptop checked.

SUNDAY

Breakfast, as ever, with Keith. Took my nap after, then cleaned up a bit until time for lunch. Had that with Kathie, Keith, and Leila; the main dish was jambalya and it was pretty good. Leila is a champion talker--there are so many here--and we heard all about her late husband, children, and grandchildren.

Futzed around after, then went down to Bingo; I won two, but this wasn't dime Bingo; I just got some funny money for my wins. I stayed around for Yahtzee. Volunteer Cindy is somehwhat of a bossy type, but okay; only Beverly, Mary, Keith, Carol, and I particiated.

Back upstairs, I got a call from my brother, Larry, asking about the medic alert device I wear. It seems he again fell, couldn't get up, and didn'thave his phone nearby. Luckily, he wasn't badly hurt, plus one of his children came over, but he was on the floor for about an hour. I told him the particulars---name of the company (Connect America), and so on--and his daughter will look into getting onne for him.

Dinner with Keith, Kathie, and LaVerne. I was meatloaf and pretty good and we had some enjoyable conversation. K dan something wrong eith the keyboard must check,

Neice Carolyn called and we had a good long talk. We made plans for her to pick me up on Thursday, April 14, then take me to see Betty. Ellen called and we confirmed out plans to meet tomorrow.

Sunday, May 03, 2026

SATURDAY

Before breakfast, I stripped the bed and took the sheets to the laundry room.  Transferred them to the dryer before eating with Keith and Ray, then retreived them and remade the bed; took a short nap. Assembled my medications in preparation for setting them up for the week.

Kathie called to say she was skipping lunch, so I sat with Trudie, Carl, Carol and Stan. Had the turkey burger, as the main dish with beef didn't appeal to me. I heard--once again--the saga of Trudie's and Carol's children. Interestingly, Carol's son married a Japanese woman, with whom had two sons; they lived in Tokyo, where he was an electrical engineer. Unfortunately, he died at forty of cancer.

Set up my medications for the week after lunch, then went down to dime Bingo. I had my usual four cards and won two games. I stayed after to hear Frederick, the pianist, play a variety of stage and movie tunes--very enjoyable until his "tribute to the armed forces," with the traditional war propagandistic songs. I simply sat there silently and didn't react at the end. Of course, the rest of the audience showed their support for killing with enthusiastic applause...okay, lecture over.  Here's Frederick:

Got an email from Suzy about our upcoming show (June 28), still very much in the planning stages. I hope she calls a meeting soon, so players can nail down the stucture and decide what to include.

Dinner with Kathie and Keith, before which I put in a wash of just regular clothes. Put them in dryer after and got them later. My former neighbor, Lorraine, called and we caught up with each other. She moved to Camarillo about the same time I moved here.

Mike Face-timed me and we had a good chat. Violet is studying for exams which should lead to her reception of an "International Baccalaureate." This is a a program that King Charles once had something to do with--not sure what.

I put down the new non-slip shower mat and it works wonderfully. It looks like a large square of steel wool, but is soft and actually feels good. Ellen has been worried about me falling in the shower, but this is a 100 percent improvement. I'm still very careful about holding on and so on, but am so glad I got this.

FRIDAY

Weight: 139.6 at home, so no change; 140.6 at T.O.P.S, so up .05. Not too bad, as I had expected worse. Meeting was rambling, as ever, but okay. Maryann left early, as planned, and Cheryl took me to CVS to pick up my meds. I was annoyed that the Ramipril was sent to the other CVS, but the pharmacist at this one made me up another. Home a little after 10:00 and I decided I'd wait until lunch to eat.

Did so and sat with Kathie, Keith, and LaVerne. After, there was a "celebrations meeting" where residents suggested new activities and themes. I suggested the servers be introduced by Chef Michael when he gives daily talk at dinner and Mindy liked the idea. We talked about a few other ideas and suggestions and it was a good meeting.

On-line, I ordered from BevMo some of the IPAs I enjoy; incredibly, they were delivered forty-five minutes later. There's a ten dollar fee, plus tip, but considering the hassle it is for me to get there and get the buy home, it's well worth it.

At 3:00, I went upstairs to the salon to get a manicure. Elika did a great job on my often-breaking nails, plus I have fun talking with her. She had her eleven-year-old son with her and showed me pictures of her two daughters--beautiful girls aged 18 and 15 and we had a long talk about the fun--and frustrations--of child raising. I was tickled when she show me the flyer circulating at The Orchard:

Those are my hands and that's the last manicure Elika gave me! I've greatly enjoyed showing it to my fellow--and sister--residents.

I didn't see either Kathie or Keith, so had dinner with Barbara, Trudie and Carl, Carol and Stan. As usual, we had some good conversation and laughs.

I slept well and just got up at 6:30. Stripped the bed and took the sheets to the laundry room where they're now sloshing around.
                                      💥💥💥💥💥💥SPECIAL   NOTE💥💥💥💥💥💥

I do Wordle, Connections, and Blossom every single day and yesterday, for the first time in almost three years (December 11, 2023), I got Wordle on my first word. It was "plume"; the earlier one was "chain."

THURSDAY

Breakfast with Keith and Rambling On Ray sat down with us. After, I took my hour nap, then went down to wait for Rick to drive me to Von's and CVS. He did and I got--almost--everything I needed, including B12, Ny-Quill, cream sherry, and Mother's Day cards for my daughters and DILs. I called to be picked back up at noon, but somehow, the message didn't get through and I had to wait for about a half-hour. That meant I was late for lunch, but no prob, as I had plenty of good leftovers from The Lazy Dog and I ate that in my apartment. I then realized I had forgotten to pick up my meds at CVS--damn!

Filled out and mailed the cards for my daughter-in-law in Japan and ex-DIL in Singapore. I don't even recall what all I did after that except play Jewel Royale Match. I dd call Maryann to be sure she's pick me up for T.O.PS. this morning--sure, but she has to leave early, so I called Cheryl to ask if she'd take me home and stop on the way to get my meds. Yes, she will, and I'm lucky to have such friends.

Called manicurist Elika and she'll do my manicure at 3:00 today.

Dinner with Keith, Kathie, and Dyan and we had some interesting talk. Keith, of course, takes piano lessons and Dyan mentioned that Brian Wilson, of Beach Boy fame, had given her his white piano to hold for him--I don't remember the circumstances. She also said her mother had been the pianist at a silent film theatre. I asked when her mother was born and she said 1917. Later, I looked up infor on when the silent movies faded out in favor of talkies: 1930, so her mother would have been 13. Of course, there were still a few playing, I guess, until the last which I read was in 1936, so I suppose it's possible.

T.O.P.S this morning and I'm not looking forward to getting weighed, but I'll take my medicine.

WEDNESDAY

Stripped the bed, took sheets to the laundry, and re-made with others. By the time I had them in the dryer, it was lunchtime, so I went dow...
