Slow, slow, slow day, my least favorite. Went to the dentist's office at 2:00 and ran into Richard and Sandy N. while there. Chatted for a bit, but these are the most boring and tiresome people on the planet, so it was no treat.
Neither was the information on how much replacing my tooth will cost: $238! Highway robbery, of course, and naturally, you can't just go to a dental lab and have it done; have to go through a dentist. Oh, well. Will go there, I guess, for my toothy needs henceforth.
Stopped at the clubhouse to see if my (prescription) sunglasses were there, as I can't find them. They weren't.
Pulled a few weeds, but just felt tired and out of sorts. Made it worse by eating when I wasn't hungry. Went to the library and got a movie: Babel, with Brad Pitt. Watched most of it last night and it slowly dawned on me I already saw it.
Went to bed very early and slept fitfully, as the saying goes.

Slow-pokey day. After our walk and breakfast, I surveyed the front flower bed with a sinking heart. Tons of dried leaves caught in the bushes, acres of weeds, and a general air of disrepute says it all. Happened to see Dennis and his helper, Brett, down the street, walked up and heard from Brett he cleans out stuff like that. He came out to look and gave me an incredibly low-ball estimate. Agreed on the spot and he'll come over on Monday.
Talked at length with Naomi P. and Anne Mary H., who called to thank me for a Mother's Day card for those who "mother" dogs. Just happened to see it and she appreciated the gesture.
Got a Skype call from P. and N. P. led me through an attempt to retrieve a picture from Picasa, but we had no luck. Pic is of my mother on her wedding day. I finally took a picture of it with the camera and put it on. Thanked them for my lovely (original, of course) card and droll pin. Received a beautiful gardenia plant from Mike and a gift card for Red Lobster from Ellen, as well as a darling card from the little boys in Wellsboro. Will meet the other offspring up north today.
The big news is I started the Atkins diet. Went to Shop-Rite for a chicken and olives. So far, so good (twenty-four hours down--whee!)

Dr. Mark came at 9 am and he, Pat, and I talked over the blood sugar drop problem. I certainly hope it never happens again, but at least I feel a little more comfortable with what to do and when to call 911, if necessary.
Other than that, nothing going on. I stuck close to home all day, feeling down. Had a long talk with Marge, dear friend that she is. Called Ellen on the web cam and enjoyed that. Talked to A. later.
Haven't been able to do any more on the "Fatal Family Reunion" script, but will go to Mary Ellen's tonight to work on the Old Barney one with others. Sister Betty and friend, Suzanne, are due in tomorrow and will stay for lunch. Betty will sleep over, then borrow Pat's car for the month.
Wider: Over at Anti-War.Com, Jeff Huber writes about the propaganda war, almost as important to the powers-that-be (hey, that's not us, folks!) as the killing one. Civilian deaths are starting to be noticed? Well, just spin it away and talk about a "serious" effort to limit them. Huber tells us that McChrystal(?) has an admiral named Smith as P.R. officer and writes:
"Like all military reporting now, the LAT piece, titled 'U.S. to limit air strikes in Afghanistan to help reduce civilian deaths,' is a poorly camouflaged piece of stenography, and it’s clear that Smith did the dictating." (Love that "stenography" bit--so true.)
As Huber points out, though, the best way to reduce civilian deaths is for the U.
S. military to pack up and go home.
Uh-huh; that'll be the day.

Much as I like DSL, it can be a pain. Got up late--6:30--and had to rush a bit to pick up Susan at 7:00 (because I must have my coffee first). Back now, though, and ready for the hike today.
Nothing much went on yesterday. I skipped the Women's Club meeting; just wasn't interested in the program, somebody or other lecturing on how to stay healthy in one's later years. Ho-hum, everybody knows you need to rest a lot, watch t.v. as much as possible, eat a thoroughly-processed and high sugar diet, and be sure to follow everything you learn from Oprah and Dr. Phil.
Anyhoo--took a dry run to the trail head at Ong's Hat. It's 32 miles, but now I'll know for next time how to get there.
Got the pictures from Patrick of his and N.'s weekend in the mountains and greatly enjoyed them. Can't wait for their visit.
Talked to, and saw, Ellen on the web cam and that was fun. We discussed her new townhouse, school, and so on. The picture had been somewhat fuzzy before, but now is much clearer, which is nice.
Other than all that, just had a rather slow, but okay, day.
