SATURDAY AND WHATTA DAY!

I was feeling a little pokey in the morning, disappointed I wasn't able to go to the "No Kings" rally. Just a few years ago, I would have walked the mile or so to the government center, or at least, bused there. Now, I didn't want to take a chance. I was pleased to see this via text from Suzanne, who got there early:

I moped around a bit, then it all changed when Ellen called to see if I'd like to go to the rally. She had intended to join the crowd in Ojai, but it seems it was the annual "Ojai Day" and their anti-Trump demo was postponed to today. I accepted immediately, she got here about 1:00 and wow, was it a party. There were thousands of people there in the brilliant sunshine; the most fun and the most imaginative were the homemade signs; wish i have been quick enough to take a pic of my favorite, the one on a car: "The only king is Stephen." Anyway, here are some of the others:

And here I am, with the sign Ellen made:
El took a lot more and will send them soon and I'll post when she shares. My D.D. dropped me off about 4:00, then she went to a furniture store in Oxnard where she finalized buying a new bed frame. It sounds great--can't wait to see it. She got back a few hours later and we went to Vons's for some items, then said goodbye. (A while ago, somebody asked me what I had done to deserve such a daughter and I said, "It much have been something wonderful.")

As scheduled, I called my (former?--oh, no!) blog buddy in Jersey, Pat R., at 5:30 and we had a good, long, heart-to heart. Since we're both shy, quiet, self-effacing, sweet-natured gals, and never--oh, no, never!---disagree, we had a sedate and quiet session, ending with a prayer. (Believe that one and I'll tell you another.) Anyway, it was fun and invigorating to talk to Pat and I'm going to anxiously await reading her blog when she resumes it--soon, I hope.

By the time we finished, it was after 7:00 and I make myself a tuna sandwich, poured my IPA, and settled down with Michael J Fox's sad chronicle of his engagement with Parkinson's. Slept well and have my sheets in the wash.
