Washed the sheets and changed the bed before breakfast, which I didn't get to eat until almost ten. I then spent a lot of time studying my lines. I appear in two acts and am pleased I have a fairly small part. My days of memorizing entire plays are over, I'm afraid, and this is a fun role--I even get to say "asshole," which I know will get a laugh.
Called brother Larry and we had a good long talk. At 92, he's now using a cane, as well as a walker. He walks almost every morning with his oldest, his daughter, Elaine, and her dog. He's certainly still as mentally sharp as ever; I guess I am, too--at least to an extent. Must be because we both smoked two packs a day from our teenage years and, in Larry's case, drank plenty of booze before he kicked the habit.
I got a text from my friend, Elyse, suggesting we get together for lunch one of these days. Sure, I'd love to, but incredibly, I don't remember who she is. Is she the ex-nun who came out and married outside the church and whom I met at a BCNN meeting? Or is she the one who organizes the outings for the group? Dunno, and I'll look at my blog to see if I can be enlightened. Did so, but I didn't find her name. HA--maybe I had lunch with her and never got her name! Also Called SCAN Transportation to arrange a pick-up to take me to my eye doctor appointment tomorrow.
Update: Okay, I just looked up the Wood Ranch, and found that in May, I had lunch there with Esther, the Sister of Mercy. I wonder if "Elyse" is a nickname--I sort of think it is. Well, she and I texted back and forth to hit on a date when we're both free; it's Friday, when I have T.O.P.S., so I suggested we meet at 1:00.
Rehearsal: Last night, we did blocking setups and boy, was it tedious. Erica gave us schedules she had devised and printed out and we ran through the whole thing. Not an actual rehearsal with dialogue, of course, but walk-ons and offs, it took the whole three hours. (Erica had mentioned last time to bring pencils--always the rebel, I brought a pen 😉) to take notes.) As the show is "a show within a show, so to speak, it entailed the two locations, set up in a kind of L-shape, with the main stage to the left. The audience faces "backstage" where most of the action takes place. Anyway, we walked through it with a lot of changes and corrections. Tedious, yes, but absorbing, as we concentrate on making this the best show ever.
