What a day: I followed my usual morning routine, then prepared to meet Vera at noon at the Thai restaurant across the way. Did so and we had a delightful, intimate talk along with a yummy pad Thai lunch. I feel very close to Vera, although she's almost ten years younger than my youngest child. When I left my place, I saw that management had put some papers on my door, but I was anxious to get to meet Vera, so ignored it.
Home, I took a short nap (yes, it's getting to be a habit), showered, washed my hair, then retrieved the papers on the door. I was horrified to see one was telling me I owed $15.12--for what, I don't even know--and the other $203.47! I called the office immediately and was told I hadn't paid utilities for June--or something. After screaming at the top of my lungs to whatshername, I said I'd bring the damn papers over today and find out what the hell's going on.
Not in the best of moods, I prepared to meet Amy out front to go to rehearsal. When I reached back to shut the door, I somehow started closing it on my right thumb and boy, did that smart. Continued on to the front and I no sooner got there than I got a text from Amy that her college-aged son was coming back from a trip early and she had to pick him up. I called Kay and she got me to rehearsal, but damn!
Rehearsal was fairly chaotic, but I did okay. I wasn't going to ask Kay to take me home and knew somebody would get me home. Our stage manager was kind enough to volunteer. Her name is either Yolanda or Rowena or something else--incredibly, I just can't remember. Going home, I didn't want to admit that, so I'll ask Amy tomorrow. She--the stage manager--is 24, lives with her parents and sister not too far from me, graduated from the University of Indiana (of all places) and when I asked why there, said California is "too bright" for her! Her parents are from the Netherlands and she, indeed, looks like a chubby little Dutch girl.
Slept well and happy day, my thumb nail has improved a lot. T.O.P.S. this morning, the lunch with Noreen at Danny's Deli rehearsal both tomorrow and Sunday. I should also be hearing from Cricket tis morning, plus will go over to the office at 11:00 to argue over the hundred-buck "late fee." Okay, I may survive all this, but there's no guarantee...
