FRIDAY AND A PROBLEM

Bad weight news, but I'll recover.  According to my home scale, I gain three, up to 129.6, but still in my comfort zone. At T.O.P.S., it was worse: up 1.3 to 130.6. I know I've been over-indulging and haven't walk as much as my normal, so I hope to remedy that. Thought maybe the batteries in my home scale were wearing out, so I changed them.

I had told the Cricket person to call me at 8:00 and he didn't--he called me at 9:00, while I was at the meeting, so I angrily told him to call back at 10:30, which he did and now, it seems, the whole problem is remedied and I'll just the lousy forty bucks automatically, which I wanted in the first place.

I then went over to the office to protest the hundred dollar late fee for utilities in June. I just don't want to go into details, but I'm furious. The "manager"--or whoever the hell he is--was anything but cordial, although not really rude. He doesn't work directly for the new owners, but for the FPI Management Corp. He graduated from Poly Cal, which says something--I'll bet he never heard of William Butler Yeats (oh, Mimi, you're such a friggin' snob!). Anyway, I went home and immediately paid the thing on-line and now I want to forget about it.

Bused to the transit center and walked the short distance to Danny's Deli. It was very busy, as ever, but Noreen and I were seated quickly. We had a fine time, being kindred spirits in so many ways. Superficially, we aren't--she's quite religious (a Protestant sect--they abound around here), she lost her son, she has two bit dogs and, although she has never indicated it in any way, I suspect is on a pretty high financial level. We had a good, convivial time, as ever.

Home, I took a nap. When I got home, I pulled up one of the two tomato place I bought a few weeks ago. Unlike the other, which is thriving, it never took, so I used the whole it was in for the pretty new yellow flowers I bought. I also swept up those constantly-falling pine needles and took them to the trash, along with newspapers.

The Problem: I woke up at 3:00, now it's 6:00 and I haven't been back to sleep since. Today is tech day, from 10 to 8 and we're supposed to get head shots, but I honestly don't know if I can make it. I may call Erica and see if I can skip, especially if it doesn't include a run-through.

SATURDAY--ANOTHER BIZ, BIZ, BUSY ONE

I was dragging when I got up, but I had my coffee, a piece of bread, jumped in the shower and washed my hair, and that revived me pretty wel...
