WEDNESDAY

If I ever entertain the notion of staying east in the rainy season, yesterday persuaded me otherwise. Noreen and I had planned to meet for lunch at Lure in town and I was looking forward to it. Unfortunately, I looked at the weather and saw that rain was predicted on and off, starting at 1:00, which was when we had planned to meet. I knew Noreen was going to her T.O.P.S. meeting first, and hoped she wouldn't go directly there. I left three messages at hourly intervals, but didn't hear back from her. Finally, in desperation, I called Lure and asked the hostess to look for an older woman who seemed to be waiting for someone. She did, found Noreen, and gave her the message. When Noreen got home, she immediately called me and she was apologetic! Why? Because she doesn't use a cell phone and has only a landline. Noreen will be ninety in June, so I sure cut her some slack and of course, it was she who was inconvenienced. The fault was all on my side--I should have thought about the weather. Anyway, we'll meet at Lure at noon tomorrow--OKAY, MIMI, STOP RIGHT THERE! I just looked at the weather forecast and found it will rain on Friday most of the afternoon. I therefore called Noreen and we switched to Friday. She'll pick me up and we'll go to the Thai place right across the street from me--yay!

Earlier, I had called Mary Hoffman and we had an hour-long talk. She's doing okay and is another one on the cusp of ninety--she'll turn November 26th, so is a full year and a month older than I am, although we were in the same grade; I'm not sure how that happened. I hadn't talked to Mary for eight or nine months, I guess, and we had a lot to catch up on.

Other than that, I continued working on pulling together my income tax info to give Michelle. I've done the donation and medical cost parts and will tackle the rental property expenses today.
