WEDNESDAY

A pretty lazy day. I didn't go out much except for taking my lunch to the middle and eating there. Not sure why, but I spent time doing more or less nothing--I took a nap and even watched T.V. in the daytime. A few things of interest happened, though:

1.) Ellen called twice and we made a date for her to come over tomorrow; she has various visits here and there, as she continues to get her new house in shape. She'll pick me up and we'll have lunch--yay!  She also texted me to say she can't find the house-warming check I gave her--no prob, I cancelled it and will give her another.

2.) Pat Kennedy Hayes (can't recall her current last name) called and we had a very pleasant, Ventnor/HSHS/present day talk. She's had some "issues," as the saying well, but on the brink of ninety, she's doing well, serves on several boards, and is active otherwise. She said she's going to call Muckie; think I'll do the same shortly.

3.) Not nearly as welcome as the previous contacts, I received a text from Jimmy Downes' daughter, Christina, that he has died. I am so sorry and so shocked. I asked the cause and she said they didn't know, but possibly heat exhaustion, as he was found outside. Wow, this is so sad and so depressing. I knew he was having some kind of dementia, but didn't realize there was more to it. I called niece Carolyn to let her know; happily, things are going well for her and here family. Here are Jim, Betty, and me when he visited in September 2022:

I called niece Carolyn to let her know and we had a nice virtual visit.

UH-OH DEPARTMENT: I just put in a load of wash, looked at this laptop to see the time and was told it was  6:15. Oh, but wait--my phone alarm is set for 7:00 and it went off a few minutes ago and now says it's 7:04. I checked and all the other time pieces in the place do, too. so what fresh hell is this???*

WIDER: This is one of those "I could have written it" essays--so damn true, it hurts:

Sorry to hear about the rather sudden death of Jimmie Downes. Little pieces of our lives being taken away. I did not know him but got to know him a little thru your postings. Do you think Betty will understand he’s gone?

Oh, no, Pat, I'm sure she won't. She really doesn't understand much told to her now. It is what it is, I'm afraid.

FRIDAY--I'M IN AND SO IS THE GESTOPO

Hey, I gotta say, it wasn't a bad day. Home, I had lost 1.2  (to 129.4) and at T.O.P.S., I was down 1.1 to 130.2. Incredibly, I was the ...
